Create a pond on your bulletin board this summer by:
Covering the board with blue paper while the children color and cut out drawings of fish. Have the children trace their hand and cut out the hand print. These "hands" can be used as flowers.
Color coffee filters with water color paint. Let them dry and wrap a pipe cleaner around the center to create a butterfly.
Cut two-inch rectangular strips of green construction paper. Fold it back and forth along the length. Glue eyes and a red tongue to the strips to make a cute little frog!
You can add other pond animals and insects like dragon flies, snakes, etc. This can become a summer project! Children love seeing their pond grow! You can also read the book, In the Small, Small Pond by Denise Fleming; which is a great little book about the life of insects and animals in the pond.
