This activity will help you teach your preschoolers the importance of covering when they sneeze or cough. Fill a spray bottle with water. Talk to the children about spreading germs and how germs cause illness. Hold the spray bottle next to your mouth and pretend to cough. As you cough spray the water. The children will see how far the water sprays (just like when you sneeze or cough, your spit travels through the air). Sneeze again but this time use a tissue to stop the water from spraying. You can also teach the children to use their elbow to cover their sneeze and coughs.
